Heated Sphere
ModelAs more personal devices incorperate wireless transmitters, the effects of these transmitters on the human body are becoming more important to predict. One effect of electromagnetic radiation on the body is heating, and SEMCAD X is perfectly suited to simulate this effect.
A simple example to illustrate the effects of a dipole on a phantom human brain was simulated by placing the dipole next to a sphere with the electrical and thermal properties of head simulating liquid.
Simulation
In order to define the electric fields in the computational domain, an electromagnetic simulation was completed. A thermal simulation was then completed using the fields computed in the first simulation and the biological properties of the sphere.
Results
The thermal effects were simulated of an electromagnetic source incident on the sphere for 3600 seconds, and the temperature of the sphere increased from an initial 37 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius.
